HS Roundup 2/16: Several area teams wrap up conference titles

Wayne, Sidney, Butler, Franklin, Bellbrook, Troy Christian, Catholic Central, West Liberty-Salem, Fort Loramie, Anna and Russia were among the area boys basketball teams to celebrate winning conference titles on Friday.

Boys Basketball

Sidney 71, Greenville 45: Andre Gordon and Ratez Roberts scored 16 points apiece and Darren Taborn added 11 for Sidney, which secured a share of the Greater Western Ohio Conference North title. Will Coomer had 16 and Noah Walker 15 for Greenville.

Butler 86, Tippecanoe 55: Kort Justice scored 26 points to help Butler wrap up the regular season with a 12-3 mark in conference play, earning a share of the Greater Western Ohio Conference North title with Sidney.

Miamisburg 68, Northmont 61: ‘Burg stormed out with a 24-13 run in the opening quarter. Jason Hubbard led the way with 27 points, Duncan Hall tacked on 17 and Brett Hensley 13.

Springboro 50, Lebanon 42: Willieon Yates scored 18 points to help ‘Boro rally with a 16-7 run in the final quarter. Zach Huffman led Lebanon with 18 points.

Stebbins 75, West Carrollton 70, OT: Jonathan Mpanzu scored 23 points, including a pair of foul shots in the closing seconds to send the game into overtime. Stebbins scored seven unanswered points to close out the game.

Piqua 49, Troy 42: Qurri Tucker paced Piqua with 20 points. Jacob Martinez totaled 13 for Troy.

Fairborn 64, Xenia 52: Fairborn pulled ahead in the first half, including a 12-6 run in the second quarter, holding on for the victory.

Lakota West 73, Hamilton 52: Mitch Wagner led West with 22 points and Myles Greenwood added 10. Jaylen Robinson had 16 for Hamilton.

Lakota East 48, Sycamore 39: Jarett Cox exploded for 30 points along with eight rebounds to lead East.

Middletown 41, Colerain 36: E.J. Williams led the Middies with 14 points and seven rebounds.

Bellbrook 60, Eaton 41: Caleb Scott scored 17 points and Donnie Crouch and Jack Campbell tacked on 14 apiece for Bellbrook, which secured a share of the Southwestern Buckeye League Southwestern title with Franklin. Grant Sullender poured in 28 for Eaton.

Preble Shawnee 70, Milton Union 35: Andrew Monnin had 16 points, Chase Thompson 14 and Tyler Worley 10 to pace Preble Shawnee.

Carlisle 65, Northridge 55: Justin Flor carried Carlisle with 22 points and Nolan Burney and Johnathan Shepherd pitched in 12 apiece. Twon Hines netted 17 for Northridge.

Brookville 55, Monroe 36: Brookville benefitted from runs of 15-4 and 11-6 in the first half to build a big lead. Tristan Backas recorded 13 points for Monroe.

Dixie 44, Waynesville 40: Devin Worley led all scorers with 16 for Dixie. Alex Hurley had 12 for Waynesville.

Alter 63, Fenwick 54: Jack Smith and Connor Bazelak scored 13 points apiece to help lead Alter to a fourth consecutive win. David Luers finished with 20 for Fenwick.

Badin 56, Roger Bacon 39: Caleb Meyer scored 13 points for Badin, which snapped a losing streak to Roger Bacon dating back to 2008.

Carroll 50, Chaminade Julienne 36: Eli Ramsey exploded for 30 points to carry Carroll. Sean Menker led CJ with 10.

Urbana 50, Ben Logan 49, OT: Urbana, already Central Buckeye Conference Mad River champions, survived an overtime scare from Ben Logan.

Spg. Shawnee 45, Tecumseh 41: Shawnee wrapped up conference play with a 10-3 mark with the win over Tecumseh.

Jonathan Alder 56, Kenton Ridge 55: KR came close but was unable to upset the Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail champions Jonathan Alder.

Ross 70, Talawanda 44: Landon Angel recorded 28 points with 13 rebounds for Ross. Evan James tallied 19 for Talawanda.

Troy Christian 77, Middletown Christian 39: James Anderson tallied 22 points, including a perfect 13-of-13 from the foul line, to help Troy Christian win the Metro Buckeye Conference title outright.

Dayton Christian 64, Emmanuel Christian 53: Matt Welker scored 25 points and Anton Webb added 15 for Dayton Christian. Adonis Davis poured in 27 points in a losing effort for Emmanuel.

Catholic Central 57, Southeastern 47: Catholic Central captured the Ohio Heritage Conference South title outright with the win.

West Liberty-Salem 72, Mechanicsburg 49: Trevor Burden totaled 22 points and Max Eggleston 15 for WLS, which took home a share of the Ohio Heritage Conference North title with West Jefferson. Kam Young led ‘Burg with 15.

Greeneview 71, Cedarville 46: Mason Schneider exploded for 30 points, passing the 1,000 career point mark to lead Greeneview. Colby Cross chipped in 15 for Cedarville.

West Jefferson 63, Triad 52: Hadley LeVan poured in 31 points, including 14 foul shots, in a losing effort for Triad.

National Trail 85, Bradford 49: Cameron Harrison poured in 30 points, Travis Hunt 15 and Dalton Mason 10 for Trail.

Arcanum 68, Tri-County North 61, OT: Carter Gray scored 21 points and Wade Meeks added 18 as Arcanum went 6-of-8 from the foul line in overtime to pull off the win. Preston Lairson totaled 23 for TCN.

Mississinawa Valley 59, Covington 48: Ethan Bowman put up 23 points and D.J. Howell and Blake Scholl 11 apiece for Mississinawa.

Cin. Country Day 77, New Miami 63: Jordan and Trey Robinette combined for 35 points in a losing effort for New Miami.

Seven Hills 42, Cin. Christian 37: Johnny Nimmo and Cameron Rogers recorded 13 points apiece for Cin. Christian.

Fort Loramie 52, Russia 35: Fort Loramie pulled away in the final quarter to secure a three-way split for the Shelby County Athletic League title with Russia and Anna.

Versailles 67, Coldwater 64: Marcus Bruns chipped in 20 points and Cole Frilling 15 in a losing effort for Coldwater.

Marion Local 64, New Knoxville 42: Tyler Mescher led Marion Local with 14 points, Nathan Bruns added 13 and Nick Tangeman 10.

St. Henry 59, Parkway 37: Ryan Luttmer recorded 14 points and Zach Niekamp 11 for St. Henry. Caleb Kinney paced Parkway with 14.

Delphos SJ’s 48, New Bremen 43: Jared Wurst tallied 16 points and Richard Cocuzza 12 for DSJ. Luke Vonderhaar led New Bremen with 14.

Minster 55, Fort Recovery 44: Mike Ketner paced Minster with 17 points. Ryan Braun had 14 for Fort Recovery.
