HS Roundup 10/1: Lak. East, Springboro girls golf advance to districts

The Lakota East girls golf team finished second and Springboro fourth, each advancing to districts out of the Division I sectional tournament at Walden Ponds on Monday.

Bree Wilson led Lakota East with a 79 and Samanhta Bernardo added an 80. Lexie Ramby shot an 82 and Emily Grotjan and Stella Langley each had an 87.

Individual qualifiers included Heather Zaglauer of Fairfield and Maddie Owens and Grace Swartz of Lebanon.

Girls Golf

Division I sectional at Hamilton Elks: Ursuline Academy won the tournament, followed by Sycamore, McAuley and St. Ursula. Alyssa Trevis of Lakota West shot a 93 to qualify individually.

Boys Golf

Division I sectional at Yankee Trace: A.J. Cherubini, Eric Cherubini and Nick Clark each shot a 71 to help Centerville win the tournament. Butler, led by co-medalist Austin Greaser’s 66, finished second. Springboro was third and Lebanon fourth to round out the team qualifiers. Co-medalist Tyler Goecke of Carroll, Shane Ochs of Carroll, Cameron Cumberland of Fairmont and Alec Avdakov of Northmont qualified individually.

Boys Soccer

Bellefontaine 6, Springfield Shawnee 0: Daunte George scored twice, Preston Henry had a goal with an assist and Tate Schmittauer tacked on three assists for Bellefontaine.

Bethel 9, Southeastern 0: Micah Mutlu, Nick Schmidt and Casey Keesee each had a pair of goals and Aiden Flomerfelt tacked on a goal and four assists for Bethel.

Kenton Ridge 3, London 1: Joshua Maurer turned in two goals and an assist and Ahmad Salhieh had the third score to lead Kenton Ridge.

Northwestern 8, Indian Lake 1: Christian Kaffenbarger poured in three goals and Mason MacGilivray added a goal with two assists to help Northwestern improve to 9-1-1.

Tecumseh 2, Jonathan Alder 1: Enrique Ruiz and Humberto Arevalo each netted a goal and Emmanual Gutierrez and Jose Ruiz had one assist apiece for Tecumseh.

Girls Soccer

Milton-Union 6, Butler 3: Kristen Dickison poured in four goals and Hallie Berberich and Morgan Grudich tacked on a goal apiece for Milton-Union. Kearston Miller, Maddie Mitchell and Anastasia Kirchner each scored in a losing effort for Butler.

Tecumseh 2, Jonathan Alder 1: Abby Partlow and Emily Jones knocked in a goal apiece and Mae Mastin and Shannon Calmes each had an assist to lead Tecumseh.

Twin Valley South 4, Middletown Christian 0: Makiah Newport scored twice, Madi Hundley had two assists and Angelica McKee and Sam Shank netted a goal apiece to pace TVS.

Girls Tennis

Middletown 5, Mt. Healthy 0: Arianna Layne and the doubles duo of Katie Pearson/Isabel Fonseca each won by scores of 6-0 6-0 to lead Middletown.

Oakwood 3, Indian Hill 2: Sarah Hall won in second singles and Oakwood swept the doubles matches, including a third-set rally from Natalie Connelly/Sophie Russell, to help Oakwood remain undefeated.

Girls Volleyball

Arcanum 3, Dixie 0: Samantha Shell recorded five kills with seven digs and Madison Simon added nine assists in a losing effort for Dixie.

Eaton 3, Tri-County North 0: Maley Tinstman turned in 21 assists with 14 digs, Alyssa Sorrell added 10 digs and Shaylen Perry eight kills to lead Eaton.

Fort Loramie 3, Ben Logan 0: Marissa Meiring finished with 10 kills and 12 digs, Maya Maurer tacked on 19 assists and Macy Imwalle 12 digs for Fort Loramie.

Sidney 3, Greenville 1: Emma Klosterman tallied nine kills and Shelby Herman 21 digs but Greenville fell victim to a Sidney rally.
