HS Roundup 5/2: Deardurff leads Ben Logan softball in big CBC win

Ben Logan softball put itself in position to claim a Central Buckeye Conference Mad River title with a 9-2 win versus Bellefontaine on Thursday.

Grace Deardurff led the way, striking out 11 in the circle to record the win along with going 3-for-4 with a double and one RBI.

Jenn Naragon added two hits with one RBI and Olivia Roose had a double.

Ben Logan moved to 20-2 overall and 13-2 in conference play with one league game, a suspended matchup versus Urbana, left in the season. A win would secure at least a split of the CBC Mad River crown.

Baseball

Anna 10, Jackson Center 0: Carter Elliott paced Anna, throwing a complete game one-hit shutout and driving in four runs to help his cause. Kyle Evans and Jarred Seigle each scored twice and Wil Luthman and Brandon Shannon hit doubles for Anna.

Chaminade Julienne 4, Tri-County North 0: CJ put the game away with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Liam Downing led TCN, going 2-for-3 at the plate.

Coldwater 11, New Bremen 3: Austin Riethman recorded four RBI and Myles Blasingame had two hits with two runs scored to lead Coldwater. Bryce Blickle hit a double and drove in a run for New Bremen.

Dayton Christian 19, Legacy Christian 3: Dayton Christian jumped ahead early with 11 runs in the first inning. Seth Griswold finished 3-for-4, Seth Withers was 2-for-3 with two RBI and Sam Jackson 2-for-4 with one RBI to lead the way.

Fairborn 10, Piqua 6: Fairborn rallied from a 5-2 deficit, clinching a Greater Western Ohio Conference South title in a game that was started Wednesday but finished Thursday due to weather. Ben Wischer came in relief to pick up the win.

Mississinawa Valley 2, Ansonia 0: Ethan Dirksen and Cameron Shimp drove in a run apiece for Mississinawa Valley. Ethan Dirksen and Cody Dirksen each had two hits.

St. Henry 6, Delphos SJ’s 0: Marc Siefring pitched a two-hit shutout with eight strikeouts, finishing 2-for-2 with a home run and two stolen bases to pace St. Henry. Rylee Deitsch added a triple and Sam Lefeld and Jay Knapke each had doubles.

Tecumseh 2, Graham 1: Nick Cassell led off the seventh inning with a walk and Hunter Minton pinch ran for him, coming around to score Tecumseh’s winning run on an Alec Hall bunt.

West Liberty-Salem 12, Riverside 2: Jacob Vanhorn went 2-for-2 with three runs scored and four stolen bases, Nick Burden drove in three runs off two hits and Logan Saylor earned the win on the mound for WLS.

Softball

West Liberty-Salem 17, Riverside 2: Kelsey Day and Hannah Riblet each homered, Hallie Strapp added two doubles and Sydnee Payer picked up the win in the circle for WLS. Courtnie Smith had a home run for Riverside.

Girls Lacrosse

Miamisburg 13, Miami Valley 3: Maddie Littman scored four goals, Molly Brown added three and Taylor Shoenfelt finished with eight saves for ‘Burg.

Boys Volleyball

Alter 3, Badin 0: Ben Conroy recorded 19 assists, Aidan Tyra added eight kills with six digs and Michael Johnston 17 digs with one ace to pace Alter in a battle of state-ranked teams.

Chaminade Julienne 3, Purcell Marian 0: Matthew Reuter tallied five aces, A.J. Murray 16 assists and Andrew Barnes nine kills to lead CJ.
