HS Results 11/9: New Bremen volleyball has record breaking night

Paige Jones broke the OHSAA record for most kills in a single tournament match Thursday night, leading her team to a state semifinals victory.

New Bremen took the match 3-1, winning the last three sets 25-16, 25-23 and 25-18.

Jones had an all around impressive night, also earning 20 digs and a .358 hit percentage, but it was her 47 kills that were record breaking.

Jones broke the previous record for kills in four sets by 18, bumping the previous record of 29 up to 47.

She also broke the record for most kills in a match overall, as the previous record for five sets stood at 40, seven shy of what Jones accomplished.

Abbie Thieman and Madison Pape each tacked on 18 and 17 digs respectively.

New Bremen advances to face Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas in the Division IV state finals this Saturday at Wright State University.
