The Cincinnati Reds released outfielder Matt Kemp and optioned outfielder Scott Schebler to Triple-A Louisville on Saturday before the second game of a four-game series against the San Francisco Giants at Great American Ball Park.
The Reds acquired Kemp, along with right fielder Yasiel Puig, infielder/catcher Kyle Farmer and pitcher Alex Wood, from the Dodgers in a December trade. Kemp hit .200 in 20 games with one run and five RBIs. He went on the injured list in April after suffering a broken rib running into the wall in San Diego.
