Amir Garrett will be sidelined with a left lat strain. The move is retroactive to Wednesday.

Garrett leads the Reds with 42 appearances. His 1.70 ERA is the best in the bullpen by more than a run. Among relievers with at least 40 appearances, he’s tied for the best ERA in baseball.

Garrett had a 7.39 ERA as a rookie in 2017, when he was a starter, and a 4.29 ERA last season in 66 relief appearances.

The Reds promoted infielder/outfielder Josh VanMeter to take Garrett’s place on the roster before the final game of a four-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers.
