HS Football recruiting roundup: Springfield prospect names top 10, Northmont linebacker down to 7, Fairfield still a destination

(Classmate Moses Douglass already committed to UK while current Springfield senior Leonard Taylor signed with Cincinnati in February.)

Since releasing his top 10, Gibson has also received an offer from Georgia Tech.

He plans to carry his decision through the summer before committing in September…

Northmont linebacker Jestin Jacobs is still looking at seven schools as May dawns, and he can brag of options in three power conferences plus the AAC and the MAC.

Additionally, Jacobs recently addd an offer from Georgia Tech.

Teammate Gabe Newburg, a three-star defensive end, previously committed to Michigan…

Trotwood-Madison tight end Justin Stephens has had a very busy week.

Starting April 26, he has added offers from Rutgers, LSU, Duke, Purdue and Iowa.

His offers already included Cincinnati and multiple MAC schools.

Also at Trotwood: Class of 2020 cornerback Sammy Anderson is one to keep an eye on for next year.

He already has five offers, including three that came in over the past week: Toledo, Cincinnati and Georgia Tech.

Lastly (at least for football), we check in on Fairfield.

Jackson Carman, the No. 1 prospect in the state in the class of 2018, is all finished, but there are still plenty of Indians on the major-college radar.

Running back Jutahn McClain ran for over 700 yards last season as a sophomore, and the 2020 prospect has three offers so far according to 247Sports.

Rutgers is the most recent, joining Cincinnati and Kentucky.

Meanwhile, Fairfield offensive lineman Jacob Hensley is up to two offers.

The 2019 prospect added one from Urbana University this week to go with a previous offer from Toledo…

Football might be America’s game, but we’re also big on basketball in these parts. 

This week another area player will make his plans official when All-State guard Myles Belyeu signs at Trotwood on Thursday.

His offers include Ashland and Cedarville, both of whom are also in pursuit of one of the area’s best juniors.

Franklin-Monroe's Ethan Conley tweeted Saturday about the Yellow Jackets offering.

Ashland became his first offer April 26, and Urbana jumped in the pool two days later…

Finally, offers keep rolling in for the Wayne girls’ basketball program. 

Junior Olivia Trice tweeted April 28 she has been offered by Stetson. That came four days after Robert Morris.

Then of course there is Bree Hall.

If you’re not aware of the Warriors freshman, well, you should be.

Wayne’s leading scorer this past season is certainly on the radar of major-college coaches across the country.

Kentucky, Cincinnati, Virginia Tech and North Carolina have offered her in the past week.

That’s an impressive group that joins Ohio State and Michigan State.
