Playoff Roundup: CJ stuns Alter in upset; Centerville wins; Wayne is out

Chaminade Julienne senior quarterback Ryan Peltier tossed five touchdown passes — including three to Dominic Wilcox — and ran for another as CJ beat Alter 49-28 in a Division III, Region 12 quarterfinal game at Roush Stadium on Friday night.

The improved to 8-4, winning its first playoff game since 2011.

Valley View scored in all three facets of the game to dismantle Waverly 42-0 in a Division IV, Region 16 playoff game.

Centerville senior receiver Jake Spiewak became the first Elk to topple 1,000-yards receiving in a season as Centerville blanked Hilliard Darby 35-0.

Super senior running back Isaiah Bowser scored four touchdowns in carrying Sidney to a 46-33 defeat of visiting Belmont.

Hilliard Bradley showed why they were undefeated in the regular season taking the best shots Fairmont had and powering into the second round of the playoffs with a 49-14 win.

Northmont fell behind and couldn't catch up to Pickerington Central.

Madison won its first-ever playoff game in its first-ever appearance.

Division II, Region 8

Anderson 33, Troy 0: Not much went right for Troy in a rematch of a regional quarterfinal from last year. Troy won that game 41-35 but Anderson had all the answers this season. Troy wraps up the season at 8-3.

Division III, Region 11

Bellefontaine 55, Granville 28: Dezmin Lyburtus accounted for eight touchdowns to carry Bellefontaine. Lyburtus threw for four touchdowns and ran in four more in an outstanding performance. Bellefontaine (10-1) advances to play Tri-Valley.

Division III, Region 12

Trotwood-Madison 48, Elida 7: Markell Stephens-Peppers threw for 181 yards and four touchdowns, two to Dallas Daniels, and Trotwood closed the game with 41 unanswered points to run away with the win. William McDaniel caught six passes for 94 yards with a TD and Raveion Hargrove had 10 carries for 83 yards with a score. Trotwood will face Dunbar in the second round.

Dunbar 28, Goshen 27: After falling behind 14-0 to start, Dunbar rallied and took the lead after scoring with 15 seconds to play. Dunbar improves to 8-3 and moves on to play Trotwood.

Division IV, Region 16

Clinton-Massie 17, Jonathan Alder 7: Massie scored 10 points in the final quarter to pull away from Alder. Derek Carlisle hit a 37-yard field goal to give Massie the lead then Weston Trampler's one-yard TD with 1:12 to play sealed the win. CM (10-1) advances to face Valley View. Jonathan Alder finishes at 8-3.

Division IV, Region 14

St. Marys Memorial 48, Highland 8: St. Marys set a school record for points scored in a postseason game. SM (10-1) will play Shelby next week.

Division V, Region 20

CHCA 47, Greeneview 24: Nick Clevenger passed for 128 yards with a TD and ran for 91 yards with two touchdowns in a losing effort for Greeneview. Ian Tamplin caught a 38-yard TD pass from Clevenger and Clay Payton added a rushing score. Greeneview closes the season at 10-1.

Reading 27, Miami East 25: Vincent Villela had three rushing touchdowns and Kaleb Nickels added a rushing score but Miami East came up just short, falling to 9-2 to close the season.

Division VI, Region 24

Spencerville 34, Mechanicsburg 0: Chris Picker ran for 267 yards with four touchdowns to lead Spencerville. Dustin Knapp led the 'Burg defense with 10 tackles. Mechanicsburg wraps up the season at 8-3.

Marion Local 27, Fort Recovery 0: Matt Rethman scored twice on TD runs, Henry Keller added a rushing score and Derek Ruhenkamp hauled in a 13-yard touchdown pass from Nathan Bruns to close the scoring for unbeaten Marion Local. Fort Recovery finishes at 6-5. ML will face Spencerville.

Coldwater 42, Bethel 7: Head coach Chip Otten picked up his 100th win at Coldwater. Sam Broering passed for a pair of touchdowns and Ben Wenning tallied two TD runs to lead the way. Travis Durst scored Bethel's lone TD on a 61-yard run. Bethel finishes at 9-2. Coldwater (8-3) moves on to play Lima Central Catholic.

Lima Central Catholic 45, Dayton Christian 7: Lima Central Catholic proved too tough for DC, outgaining the Warriors 528-177 in the game. Dayton Christian closes the season at 9-2.

Division VII, Region 28

Lehman Catholic 46, Perry 6: Elliot Gilardi threw a pair of touchdowns, Owen Smith had two rushing scores and Lehman Catholic's defense forced several turnovers to run away with the win. LC (10-1) will face Delphos SJ's next week.

Delphos SJ's 48, Riverside 21: DSJ improves to 7-4 and will play Lehman Catholic next. Riverside's season ends at 6-5.

Minster 40, Fort Loramie 24: Minster (7-4) moves on to play Crestview. Fort Loramie falls to 8-3.

Crestview 63, Ansonia 22: Ansonia's season comes to a close at 6-5.
