Ohio State offers a peek at Buckeyes on the practice field

The 2018 Ohio State football team is still practicing on Olentangy River Road this week despite the ongoing investigation of head coach Urban Meyer.

The athletics department let reporters in for a few minutes to see on Tuesday and even allowed video to remove any doubt.

A look at what the Buckeyes were up to can be seen above.

Ryan Day is serving as interim head coach while Meyer is on paid administrative leave.

The school is investigating whether how Meyer handled allegations assistant coach Zach Smith abused his wife in 2015.

Smith was fired on July 23 after being charged with criminal trespassing and being served with a civil protection order.

Meyer denied knowledge of a the 2015 incident a day later, though there is some question about what he thought he was denying at the time.

He released a statement Friday apologizing for how he handled questions the day after Smith was fired but also stating he followed all protocols regarding the allegations in 2015.

Later that evening, Zach Smith told ESPN he never beat his wife but admitted to contributed to their marriage being "toxic." He also said he had discussed the 2015 police investigation with both Meyer and Ohio State director of athletics Gene Smith.

The attorney for Zach Smith's ex-wife, Courtney, released a statement Tuesday morning seeking to correct misinformation circulating about her client.

Two days before that, Zach Smith's attorney criticized the media's coverage of the incident.

Ohio State has named an "independent board" to look into what Meyer knew and how he handled it. The investigation is being led by a well-known former U.S. Attorney.

The school hopes to have the investigation wrapped up by August 19.

Ohio State opens the season at home against Oregon State on Sept. 1.
