Ohio Stadium to sell beer stadium-wide during 2016 Buckeyes season

Wherever they’re sitting, Ohio State fans will be able to purchase beer in Ohio Stadium this season, the university announced today.

As an extension of the 2015 pilot program, beer will be sold stadium-wide during the 2016 season. The sale of alcohol began last year for fans in the suite and club levels of Ohio Stadium.

Ohio State says revenue generated by alcohol sales will be used to fund two new full-time positions in the Ohio State Police Department at an annual cost of $300,000. The new positions will be used year-round by campus police and not just on game days.

OSU also announced a new policy on bags. Bags larger than 5x8x1-inches will no longer be permitted in Ohio Stadium beginning with the Buckeye Country Superfest on June 18-19. The policy also will be in effect for the International Champions Cup soccer game July 27 and the 2016 Ohio State football season

The one exception to the new policy is fans with medical or childcare needs. They’ll be permitted to carry one bag, no larger than 14x14x14 inches into the stadium through specific entrances.
