Kerry Coombs reportedly leaving Ohio State for NFL

Ohio State assistant coach Kerry Coombs reportedly is set to join the Tennessee Titans after six seasons in Columbus.

Yahoo Sports reported the move Wednesday afternoon.

Coombs coached cornerbacks and was known as one of head coach Urban Meyer’s top recruiters after being hired away from a job at the University of Cincinnati.

He coached four Buckeyes who were taken in the first round of the NFL draft, including three in the last two years.

Prior to his stint at UC, the University of Dayton graduate was an ultra-successful high school coach, most notably at Colerain.

Coombs is the third current or former Ohio State assistant reportedly targeted by new Titans head coach Mike Vrabel, who is a former Buckeyes player rand assistant himself.

Quarterbacks coach Ryan Day was said to be considering a move to the pros before it was announced he has been promoted to offensive coordinator.

On Sunday, there were reports Ed Warinner was going to join Vrabel’s staff just one day after he agreed to leave Minnesota to become an assistant for Jim Harbaugh at Michigan.

However, those reports were later walked back, and Warinner still lists “University of Michigan” on his Twitter bio.

Former Ohio State quarterbacks advise Haskins to ‘enjoy the moment’

Dwayne Haskins got a new cell phone number before the season, so his phone hasn’t blown up after every big performance in his first season as the starting quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Maybe minimizing distractions has played a part in the redshirt sophomore’s success. He leads the nation in passing touchdowns (28) and ranks...

Alter grad steps up as leader for Wittenberg offensive line

Four poster boards listing goals for the team, offense, defense and special times line a wall outside the Wittenberg football team’s locker room at the HPER Center.
