Home game vs. St. Mary’s one of highlights of Dayton Flyers’ schedule

The complete non-conference and Atlantic 10 schedule for the Dayton Flyers was announced Tuesday.

Dayton will play West Coast Conference regular-season champion St. Mary’s at UD Arena at 2 p.m. on Nov. 19. The Flyers play three straight games at home in December: vs. Winthrop on Dec. 3, vs. St. Joseph’s College, a Division II school from Indiana, on Dec. 6 and East Tennessee State on Dec. 10.

Dayton will open the season with an exhibition game against Findlay at 7 p.m. Nov. 4.

Those are the non-conference games that weren’t previously announced. This is the latest in years Dayton has announced its non-conference schedule.

“We had five or six conversations through the spring that led us in one direction or another,” Dayton coach Archie Miller said. “The next thing you know it didn’t work out. We had a lot of things fall through that prevented us from really moving faster. The thing we wanted to do the best was secure a series this year starting at home with a bonafide NCAA tournament team. We were able to get that later than we wanted. That kind of held up our dates. Our home game against St. Mary’s was really a big piece to the schedule.”

UD’s other non-conference games are: home at 7 p.m. Nov. 11 vs. Austin Peay; at Alabama, Nov. 15, time TBA; vs. Nebraska in Wooden Legacy tournament, Nov. 24, 8:30 p.m.; vs. Portland or UCLA at Wooden Legacy, Nov. 25; at Wooden Legacy vs. TBA, Nov. 27; vs. Northwestern at United Center in Chicago, 7 p.m., Dec. 17; home vs. Vanderbilt, 7 p.m., Dec. 21; home vs. Virginia Military Institute, 7 p.m., Dec. 23.
