High School Football: Two No. 1 teams in the state facing off, and 5 other games you can’t miss in Week 4

It’s time to get serious as most teams jump into conference play. The fourth Friday night of the high school football season features some really intriguing games.

Here are six of them to keep an eye on this week:

Minster (3-0) at Coldwater (3-0)

The Wildcats and the Cavaliers are both ranked No. 1 in the state in their respective divisions in the first Associated Press poll. These are two teams that have given up their share of points in the first three weeks, but remain unblemished.

Mechanicsburg (3-0) at Greeneview (3-0)

The Rams have the home field advantage and a 14-game regular season winning streak coming into the Ohio Heritage Conference showdown. The Indians have outscored opponents 140-14 in the first three weeks of the season. There aren’t many more exciting players in the Miami Valley than Greeneview quarterback Nick Clevenger.

Wayne (2-1) at Miamisburg (3-0)

The Warriors have something to prove coming off a 47-28 loss at the hands of Akron Hoban last week. This will be the Vikings’ toughest test of the season. Their first three opponents have a combined record of 2-7. Wayne probably has more talent across the board, but the Vikings have certainly bought in to Steve Channell’s system.

Anna (2-1) at St. Henry (3-0)

Another great matchup in the Midwest Athletic conference. The Rockets have bounced back nicely since an opening loss at Fenwick. St. Henry’s start is a bit of a contrast. The Redskins have outscored opponents 121-7 but those opponents have one combined win the first three weeks.

Springfield (3-0) at Centerville (0-3)

This one looks ugly on paper, but the Elks might be the best 0-3 team in the state, if only Brent Ullery could settle on a quarterback. Senior Tyler King and freshman Chase Harrison have both had their share of struggles. This will be the third time in the first four weeks the Wildcats have faced a winless team, but a Week 2 win at Fairfield was certainly impressive.

Fairmont (2-1) at Springboro (1-2)

This is the Touchdown 7 Game of the Week. Springboro has lost two games by a combined seven points. This one features two good running backs in Fairmont’s Jesse Deglow, a senior, and Boro junior Timmy Keseday.
