High School Football: Springfield moves up in Division I state poll

The Springfield Wildcats moved up two spots to No. 8 in Division I in the Associated Press state poll released Monday.

The Wildcats are 6-0 for the first time since the new high school opened in 2008 after last week's 35-7 win over Xenia.

Springfield travels to Northmont (5-1) Friday night to begin a tough stretch to end the regular season. After traveling to Beavercreek (1-5) in Week 7, the Wildcats end the season with home games against Wayne (4-2) and No. 10 Fairmont (5-1).

Cincinnati Colerain (6-0) is the top-ranked team in Division I, followed by Mentor, Pickerington Central, Reynoldsburg, Canton McKinley, Solon, Dublin Coffman, Springfield, Lakewood St. Edward and Fairmont.

Mechanicsburg (6-0) is No. 4 in the Division VI rankings.
