Here are five games to watch:
Clinton-Massie (1-0) at Coldwater (1-0)
It’s the second year of a two-year contract between the Falcons and the Cavaliers. Clinton-Massie won 24-14 on their turf a year ago and now Coldwater gets the home field advantage.
The Falcons lost in the Division IV championship game last season, while the Cavaliers lost to Marion Local in the third round of the Division VI tournament.
Waynesville (1-0) at Greeneview (1-0)
Last season the Rams put a 35-7 beating on the Spartans in Waynesville. Greeneview won its 12th straight regular season game, 49-27 at Arcanum, last week. Ohio Heritage Conference Player of the Year Nick Cleavenger ran for four touchdowns as the Rams rolled up 305 yards on the ground.
Waynesville beat Bethel-Tate 34-0 as senior QB Anthony Carmichael threw two TD passes and the Spartans defense intercepted five passes.
Troy (1-0) at Xenia (1-0)
This game showcases two of the top running backs in the Miami Valley. Troy’s Jaydon Culp-Bishop started with 166 yards rushing and three touchdowns in the Trojans’ 43-8 win at home against Belmont.
Xenia’s Sincere Wells was just a touch better as the Buccs blasted Beavercreek 41-14. The senior totaled 185 yards and four scores as Xenia served notice that last season’s 2-8 record is ancient history.
Fairmont (1-0) at Northmont (1-0)
The Firebirds proved that last year’s opening win against Alter wasn’t a fluke. Jesse Deglow’s touchdown in the closing seconds lifted the Firebirds to a 12-6 win over the Knights.
Northmont had a much easier time on the road. The T-Bolts scored 56 points at Lima Senior last Friday. Senior QB Miles Johnson completed 13-of-20 passes for 200 yards and 4 touchdowns in the win.
Chicago Simeon (1-0) at Trotwood (1-0)
The Rams impossible three-week start to the season brings Chicago power Simeon to town this week. Trotwood survived four turnovers to rally for a 13-3 win at Winton Woods in Week 1.
Jeff Graham’s team will host defending Division I state champion Pickerington Central in Week 3.
