Former Dayton forward makes debut at College of Charleston

Sam Miller sees five minutes of action in victory at VCU

Former Dayton Flyers forward Sam Miller played his first college basketball game in 21 months Saturday, seeing five minutes of action for the College of Charleston in an 83-79 victory against Virginia Commonwealth in Richmond, Va.

Miller had one steal and a turnover in his brief time on the court. This was his first appearance in a game since March 17, 2017, when he had three points and a rebound in 10 minutes in Dayton’s 64-58 loss to Wichita State in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Miller was suspended from the University of Dayton in August 2017 for his involvement in an incident in the Greene County Jail. He pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct on Aug. 22 and avoided additional jail time.

Miller transferred to Charleston in January and wasn't eligible to play until the end of the first semester this season. That's why his debut came in Charleston's 11th game. The team is 9-2 and has won six straight games.

The last two games Miller has played in and won have come against VCU. He played seven minutes in Dayton’s Senior Night victory against VCU on March 1, 2017.
