Carter, a 6-foot-6 guard who is the nephew of rapper Jay Z, was granted his release from Dayton in April after coach Archie Miller left for Indiana in late March. Point guard McKinley Wright, who re-opened his recruiting in the wake of Miller’s departure, signed with Colorado in April.

New Dayton coach Anthony Grant convinced three players in the 2017 recruiting class — Jordan Pierce, Jordan Davis and Matej Svoboda — to stay at UD.
