Former Cincinnati Reds ace Johnny Cueto will start the 87th annual All-Star Game for the National League on Tuesday at Petco Park in San Diego.
Cueto, who the Reds traded to the Kansas City Royals last July and who signed with the San Francisco Giants in the offseason, is making his second All-Star appearance. He was an All-Star for the Reds in 2014 and just missed making the team last year, losing out in the Final Vote to Cardinals pitcher Carlos Martinez.
Cueto is 13-1 with a 2.47 ERA in 18 starts with the Giants. He leads the NL in victories.
The NL’s starting lineup is: Ben Zobrist, Cubs, 2B; Bryce Harper, Nationals, RF; Kris Bryant, Cubs, 3B; Wil Myers, Padres, DH; Buster Posey, Giants, C; Anthony Rizzo, Cubs, 1B; Marcell Ozuna, Marlins, CF; Carlos Gonzalez, Rockies, LF; and Addison Russell, Cubs, SS.
Chris Sale, of the White Sox, will start for the American League. The AL starting lineup is: Jose Altuve, Astros, 2B; Mike Trout, Angels, CF; Manny Machado, Orioles, 3B; David Ortiz, Red Sox, DH; Xander Bogaerts, Red Sox, SS; Eric Hosmer, Royals, 1B; Mookie Betts, Red Sox, RF; Salvador Perez, Royals, C; and Jackie Bradley Jr., Red Sox, LF.
