Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski were on the field for New England Patriots at practice on Thursday.
Both did not participate at practice on Wednesday, but were listed as limited participants on Thursday. Gronkowski is dealing with a thigh injury that kept him out of their Week 5 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while Brady has a sprained AC joint in his non-throwing shoulder.
When Brady was asked about his injury on Thursday he responded that he’s not worried about it, and he plans on playing Sunday against the New York Jets.
The Patriots have fallen quickly from their high preseason projections. They were a Super Bowl favorite, and some were asking if they could duplicate 2007’s undefeated regular season.
Through five games they have a 3-2 record, tied with the Jets and the Buffalo Bills. The Patriots also could’ve easily lost games to the Buccaneers and Houston Texans.
The main issues Patriots have had through five games are stopping other teams, and protecting Brady. He has been hit 32 times, 16 of which have resulted in sacks.
The Patriots are going to have keep Brady’s injured shoulder off of the ground if they want to get through the AFC for a second consecutive season.
