The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered a brutal loss at the hands of the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5, but Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier isn’t panicking like most.
Facing criticism from all angles, particularly as it pertains to the offense, the Steelers defensive leader isn’t buying into it. Instead, he offered reassuring words during an appearance on Pro Football Talk Live on Thursday morning.
“After a while when you get a lot of attention, people are always going to find something to pick at and I think that’s what the offense, that’s what they’re trying to do,” Shazier said. “They’re always trying to find something to pick at with our offense, and I think that’s why people are starting to question the things that are going on, but we know that they’re going to be back on track. We know that they’re going to be all right and I think that we’re going to be fine.”
The Steelers managed just 9 points and managed just 70 yards rushing against the worst rush defense in the NFL on Sunday. On the year, they’re 19th in the NFL in scoring and 17th in total offense despite one of the most explosive offensive rosters in the NFL.
However, if they can manage a win over the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, it’ll do a lot to prove Shazier right regardless of what it looks like.
