New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady missed practice today. At first, it was thought just to be a day off after a physical game. Now it looks like it could be at least mildly more concerning.
“Tom Brady injured his left shoulder vs Carolina and re-aggravated said injury in Tampa,” wrote NBC’s Michael Giardi. “It’s an AC joint sprain for Brady. Not expected to miss time.”
That was backed up by NBC’s Tom Curran. It does look like Brady will be all right, though he wasn’t at practice so they could run tests.
“Tom Brady missed practice Tuesday as he had an MRI performed on his left shoulder,” Curran wrote. “The MRI came back negative and Brady should be ready to practice this week and play Sunday against the Jets.”
Plus, this isn’t the first time he’s dealt with this injury. If he can set records through it, he should be fine playing the Jets on Oct. 15.
“FYI: Patriots QB Tom Brady had/played thru AC joint sprain (like he has now) in his left shoulder during the team’s run to Super Bowl XLII,” wrote MMQB’s Albert Breer.
The biggest issue here is simply the fact that Brady is taking this many hits. The guy is 40 years old. Sure, he’s going to be able to play through this, but what if the next injury is worse? The Patriots have to protect him if they’re going to be the same force they have been for nearly two decades.
