According to reports, former New England Patriots cornerback Brandon Browner was arrested in May of 2017 on cocaine charges.
“Ex-Seattle Seahawks star Brandon Browner was arrested for cocaine in L.A. back in May and was hauled to the station for a shirtless mug shot,” reported TMZ Sports. “The La Verne Police Dept. has confirmed 33-year-old Browner was arrested on May 25 at 7:04 AM after cops say he was in possession of a controlled substance and under the influence. Our law enforcement sources tell us the substance in question is cocaine.”
It’s unclear why these charges have not garnered more national attention until now, especially since Browner was arrested again in September, and that arrest did make headlines.
“Ex-Seattle Seahawks star Brandon Browner was arrested in Los Angeles on Monday night,” reported TMZ Sports at the time. “The former Pro Bowl cornerback — part of the original Legion of Boom — was booked for allegedly making criminal threats, a felony. Sources tell us the alleged victim is a woman. Browner was taken into custody and his bail was set at $50,000. He posted bail and was released just after 11 p.m. According to his booking sheet, 33-year-old Browner is listed as 6-foot-3, 215 pounds. We reached out to Browner for comment. So far, no word back.”
Safe to say it’s been a troubling first year of retirement for Browner. His career really plummeted after that Super Bowl win with the Patriots. His last attempt make it in the NFL was in trying to rejoin the Seahawks, but he didn’t get through camp and walked away from the league.
