New England Patriots backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo could be getting antsy watching Jacoby Brissett start for the Indianapolis Colts.
He’s been sitting on the bench all season and has largely been sitting on the bench for four years now. And the Patriots had interest in acquiring him this offseason, but decided to hold onto him instead.
However, Garoppolo couldn’t be more understanding of the situation.
“Not killing me,” Garoppolo said according to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe. “Just have to be patient. Things have a way of working out.”
The former second-round pick who played his college football at Eastern Illinois is in the final season of his rookie contract. So the Patriots have an important decision to make about his future.
Patriots starter Tom Brady claims he’d like to play until he’s 45, which would mean that Garoppolo has to sit for at least five more seasons. But he’s been the consummate professional and it show in that comment.
