The Carolina Panthers have identified one of their fans seen in a video sucker-punching a fellow Panthers fan in the face and have reported him to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department.
The Panthers released the following statement in response to the incident:
“We have reviewed video tape of the incident and have identified the perpetrator. We are working with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department to pursue charges to the fullest extent of the law,” Panthers Executive Director of Risk Management Lance Emory said according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.
“The Carolina Panthers are committed to a fan-friendly and family-friendly stadium experience. The behavior exhibited by the perpetrator is unacceptable and will not be condoned at Bank of America Stadium.”
According to the Instagram description of the video posted showing the fight, the perpetrator and his girlfriend had been standing and obstructing the view of the victim and the people he was in attendance with, one of whom happened to be a Philadelphia Eagles fans.
After the victim allegedly called them rude for standing, the assailant hurled profane insults at them before turning around and punching the man in the face.
The assailant was reportedly seated in section 541, row 24, seat 10. NFL security is also looking into the incident.
