Josh Gordon rips into Packers corner Damarious Randall, throws the Browns under the bus

Cleveland Browns wideout Josh Gordon lost to the Green Bay Packers and cornerback Damarious Randall in overtime on Sunday. Gordon is just working his way back into the NFL with the winless Browns, but he’s still as fired up as ever.

After the game, Randall was asked what it was like to cover a guy who was for one brief season the best wideout in the NFL.

“He had one catch,” Randall said, per Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Any more questions? I matched him the whole game. When he was in the slot, we were in zone.”

Technically, that’s not true. Gordon didn’t have just one catch. Randall is right that he personally held Gordon to one catch for 13 yards, but he had two more catches against zone coverage, while not being watched by Randall, for a total of 69 yards and a touchdown.

This isn’t to take away from what Randall did. When they were matched up in man, he shut Gordon down. However, the way he’s talking about it now makes it seem like the Packers were a bit more dominant than they were.

Gordon apparently feels the same way. He saw Randall’s comments online and fired back.

“Great Win for them but let’s be serious..,” he wrote on Twitter. “Considering several of our disadvantages as a team, this kid couldn’t hold my jock strap on my worst day lol..”

And that’s just Gordon, throwing the Browns under the bus after just returning from suspension.

He does have a point, though. The Browns are a team with very little talent, and that impacts his stats as a wideout. Put him in New England or Pittsburgh and he’d have more than one catch against Randall.

But he also can’t ignore that Randall owned him when they were playing one-on-one in simple man coverage, whether he likes it or not.
