Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is clearly one of the best at that position in franchise history.
If anyone was still doubting that in Bryant’s eighth NFL season, he removed it with a touchdown catch in Week 7 against the San Francisco 49ers. It is the 71st of his career, which ties him with Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver, the late Bob Hayes for the most in Cowboys’ franchise history.
Bryant has received his share of criticism since the Cowboys drafted him in 2010. Some of it has been unwarranted, and some has absolutely been just.
However, when healthy the one thing he has done is produce. At his peak from 2012-2014 he hauled in 12, 13 and 16 touchdowns catches. Injuries have hampered his 2015 and 2016 seasons, and through six games this year he has 21 catches and 3 touchdowns.
If he can stay healthy, Bryant probably has three productive seasons left in him. That could give him the opportunity to set a record that will be very difficult for the next Cowboys’ superstar wide receiver to reach.
