Deatrich Wise added to Patriots injury report on Thursday

New England Patriots defensive tackle Deatrich Wise started in their last game against the Buffalo Bills.

He hadn’t started since Week 7, but injuries forced him to take on that role. However, on Thursday he was not able to participate in practice because of a foot injury.

This could leave Patriots weak on the defensive line because Trey Flowers was limited again on Thursday with a rib injury. He was limited most of the week leading up to their game against Bills, and he was not able to take the field. Flowers is the team leader in sacks with 6 on the season.

The Patriots’ next game is on the road, Monday night, against the struggling Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins have lost five of their last six games, including an 18-point loss in New England two weeks ago.

Injuries generally don’t derail the Patriots, but depth could be an issue on Monday. Not only is the status of Flowers and Wise uncertain, but outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy is still dealing with a calf injury that kept him from starting against the Bills.

The Patriots have to be thankful that the game is being played at night. A Sunday 1 p.m. kickoff against in Miami would’ve been very hard on a defense that could be without several players.
