Dallas Cowboys DE DeMarcus Lawrence not focused on contract

Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence is having a monster season in the final year of his contract.

Through five games, he’s tallied 9 sacks. It is going to cost the Cowboys some money to re-sign Lawrence, but he is not worried about that at the moment.

“We’ll talk about that when the time comes,” Lawrence said, via the Dallas Morning News’ Brandon George. “I’m just going to keep racking up my numbers, and we’ve just got to get the job done as a team. If the team wins, we all win. That’s the main thing.”

Lawrence’s breakout season was expected to come last year following an 8-sack season in 2015, but it was delayed due to suspension and injury. He only played in nine regular-season games, starting in three. He took the field, but did not start in the Cowboys’ divisional-round game against the Green Bay Packers.

While the Cowboys defense has struggled in 2017,  Lawrence has looked like one of the best defensive players in the NFL. With the return of defensive lineman David Irving from suspension, the Cowboys’ line will be force for the rest of the season.

However, once the offseason arrives, Lawrence is going to become a very wealthy man.
