Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is friends with Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson, and they decided to put some stakes on Elliott’s return to the field.
Elliott comes back from his six-game suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy on Christmas Eve against the Seattle Seahawks. He talked to Dickerson on the phone recently, and appears to have supreme confidence that he will have no rust in his first game back.
“He said that he’s gonna get 200 yards in his return,” Dickerson said to TMZ Sports. “I said, ‘No, you not gonna get no 200 yards.’ So the bet is that if he gets 200 yards I have to give him one of my jerseys. It’ll be one of my special jerseys that I played in, and if he doesn’t get 200 yards he has to give me a jersey he played in.”
The last time Elliott played was Week 9 when he rushed for 93 yards on 27 carries against the Kansas City Chiefs. He has 783 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns, along with 2 receiving touchdowns for the 2017 season.
Elliott was suspended after an NFL investigation into domestic violence allegations against him from his former girlfriend. He was not charged with a crime in 2016, but the suspension was issued in August 2017.
After a lengthy appeal process, he began serving the suspension in Week 10.
