Broncos’ Vance Joseph: The defense played winning football

Vance Joseph identified what cost the Denver Broncos their Week 7 game versus the Los Angeles Chargers — and it want anything to do with defense.

“The defense, in my opinion, played winning football,” the Broncos coach said, via  Nicki Jhabvala of The Denver Post.

Joseph put the onus on Denver’s dreadful offensive performance.

Pass rushers Melvin Ingram, Joey Bosa and the rest of the Chargers defense frustrated Denver’s offense throughout the affair.

The Broncos put up a goose egg in Los Angeles on Sunday losing 21-0 to the Chargers. Denver’s offense tallied up 251 total yards against the Chargers. Trevor Siemian was sacked 5 times and threw one interception. The Broncos had three turnovers in the contest.

Joseph doesn’t need to review game film to determine the source behind the Broncos loss.

“To get shutout, that’s not acceptable,” Joseph added.

The Broncos need to go back to the drawing board in the aftermath of their second-straight loss and it starts on the offensive side of the football.
