Broncos coach Vance Joseph: Trevor Siemian is our guy

In the aftermath of a shutout loss, Denver Broncos coach Vance Joseph is sticking with his starting quarterback.

“Trevor is our guy,” Joseph reiterated on Monday, via the team’s official website. “We all have to do more to help the offense get better.”

The Broncos were defeated 21-0 by the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. It marked the first time the Broncos were held scoreless since 1992. Siemian was 25-of-35 passing for 207 yards and had 1 interception, resulting in a mediocre 74.3 passer rating. The second-year starter now has 8 touchdowns and 7 interceptions on the year.

Denver did not do much collectively to help Siemian out on the offensive end. The quarterback was sacked 5 times by the Chargers and the three total turnovers (Siemian with two of them) exasperated the poor offensive performance.

Denver’s on a two game skid and has lost three of their last four. The Broncos are ranked 24th in the NFL averaging 18 points per contest. Quarterback is just part of the problem. The team’s offensive line and running game have contributed to the team’s downfall.

Siemian is the best quarterback on Denver’s roster. He gives the Broncos their best chance to win football games. The second-year starter isn’t the type of quarterback who can win you games with his arm, but he is a solid game manager who needs help around him to be successful. Blame should be distributed to the entire Broncos offense.
