Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor did not get quite enough votes for an invite to the Heisman Trophy presentation. The true freshman also missed out on being named a first-team All-American. But there aren’t many players in the country who have a brighter future ahead of them than Taylor.

After putting up an astounding 1,847 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns in 13 games, Taylor was named the Freshman of the Year for the 2017 season by CBS Sports on Wednesday.

CBS Sports also named Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield its Player of the Year and UAB’s Bill Clark its Coach of the Year in its yearly awards.

It’s hard to argue with the choice of Taylor. The Badgers’ star averaged 6.8 yards per carry and put up 180 rushing yards or more on four occasions. After being limited to 47 yards on 15 carries in the Big Ten title game against Ohio State, Taylor will look to end his freshman season on a high note against Miami in the Orange Bowl.
