Badgers football putting together special class

It’s still very early, but with its quick start in the Class of 2019, the Wisconsin football program is in the midst of putting together its best recruiting class ever.

Frank Kaminsky’s rise was remarkable

Former Wisconsin star Frank Kaminsky will have his jersey retired Thursday night at halftime of the Badgers’ game with Purdue. His journey to this point is something no one — not even Kaminsky himself — could have imagined, writes Jim Polzin of the Wisconsin State Journal.

If you’re unable to attend the game, the school announced it would stream the special halftime ceremony honoring Kaminsky live on its Facebook page.

Madison.com has also put together a list of 10 games that stand out in Kaminsky’s career with the Badgers.

Wisconsin mailbag

Jesse Temple opens up the mailbag to answer questions about how losing impacts basketball recruiting, the projected starting lineup next season and the potential for some shuffling along the offensive line.

Athletic budget likely going up

The proposed budget for the Wisconsin athletic department would rise 8 percent to $143.5 million for 2018-19, according to figures released Wednesday.

Slow starts have hurt Badgers

The Badgers enter the Purdue game just 4-10 in Big Ten play. And though there are plenty of reasons for their struggles, it’s their slow starts that have hampered them the most, writes Jeff Potrykus of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
