MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin freshman wide receiver Danny Davis will not play Saturday against Maryland because of a left leg injury, school officials confirmed.
Davis is among three receivers on the roster listed as out for the game. George Rushing has yet to play this season, and Jazz Peavy will miss his second consecutive game with a right leg injury.
Davis has caught 7 passes for 160 yards with 1 touchdown this season and has shown an ability to help stretch the field. Badgers quarterback Alex Hornibrook likely will have to rely more heavily on receivers Quintez Cephus, A.J. Taylor and Kendric Pryor, as well as tight end Troy Fumagalli. Pryor caught his first career pass last week against Purdue.
Cephus leads the team with 23 catches for 401 yards with 5 touchdowns. Fumagalli ranks second on the team with 18 catches for 267 yards with 3 touchdowns.
