West Virginia’s Will Grier has been added to the Manning Award watch list.

The list also includes TCU quarterback Kenny Hill and Texas Tech quarterback Nic Shimonek from the Big 12.
Grier has hit on 63 percent of his passes and has thrown for 1,740 yards so far this season. In addition, he has 16 touchdown passes to only four interceptions.
Grier will need to be very consistent this weekend when Texas Tech comes to town. The Red Raiders have an opportunistic defense that specializes in taking the ball away. If West Virginia wants to remain in the hunt for a conference championship after a close loss to TCU, they’ll need to beat a Texas Tech team that’s looking extremely improved.
Another factor in that game will be David Sills, who has caught nine of Grier’s 16 touchdown passes this season. Sills is tall and strong, and will need to stretch a shorter Red Raider secondary.
