Connections matter

Iowa recently offered 2019 tight end Joel Decoursey of Zionsville, Ind. He’s paying attention to the Hawkeyes, in part because three of his Indy Select 7-on-7 teammates signed with the Hawkeyes in the Class of 2018. Rob Howe of HawkeyeNation.com has the details on Decoursey’s recruitment.

The southern connection

Apparently, Iowa isn’t exactly sure where new running backs coach Derrick Foster will recruit. It’s really an easy decision. Foster should recruit Atlanta, where his local ties are strong.

Gazing into the crystal ball

Land of 10 took a shot at putting together Iowa’s offensive depth chart for spring practice. Some positions, like quarterback, were easy. Others, like the interior offensive line, were a little harder to put together.

Bringing firepower to the offense

It’s what Iowa looks to do with every signing class. Matthew Bain of the Des Moines Register takes a look at the Top 12 offensive prospects on the Class of 2019 recruiting board. The list includes Decoursey.

Brandon Snyder update

Safety Brandon Snyder has pleaded guilty to charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, according to Lee Hermiston of the Cedar Rapids Gazette. The incident occurred Dec. 10 and Snyder didn’t play in Iowa’s Pinstripe Bowl victory over Boston College.

A de-facto rival

Iowa and Penn State are in different divisions, but play in football every year through 2021. Why exactly is that?  Land of 10 explains while breaking down the Big Ten scheduling policy.

Iowa women’s basketball player Megan Gustafson set a league record by taking home the Big Ten Player of the Week honors for an eighth time this season on Monday. She averaged 29.0 points, 15.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists last week. Here is the press release from the Iowa athletic department.
