Where ESPN ranked SEC teams in its FPI after week 8

While most people are sold on Georgia as an undefeated team, it’s clear ESPN doesn’t quite feel the same way in its latest FPI.

The worldwide leader has Georgia ranked seven spots behind Alabama and only one spot ahead of Auburn, which has already lost to LSU. The Crimson Tide took care of business against Tennessee, but perhaps the FPI looked unfavorably upon Georgia’s bye week while Auburn handled Arkansas.

The FPI certainly doesn’t mirror the voters thoughts either. The Bulldogs are No. 3 in the AP poll while Auburn sits in 19th

ESPN says its FPI is supposed to look forward and not back based on 10,000 simiulations of the rest of the season.

Below is each SEC team’s spot in the FPI:

  • No. 1 — Alabama
  • No. 8 — Georgia
  • No. 9 — Auburn
  • No. 18 — Mississippi State
  • No. 22 — LSU
  • No. 29 — Florida
  • No. 33 — South Carolina
  • No. 35 — Texas A&M
  • No. 52 — Tennessee
  • No. 54 — Kentucky
  • No. 58 — Ole Miss
  • No. 65 — Arkansas
  • No. 70 — Mizzou
  • No. 75 — Vanderbilt
