Texas Tech men’s basketball coach Chris Beard has essentially become an ambassador for Whataburger in 2018.
Beard’s hilariously-wonderful obsession with the Texas hamburger institution has caught the attention of college basketball fans in Lubbock and beyond. With the Red Raiders now having punched their ticket to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2005, the chain made sure to formally congratulate Texas Tech on Saturday night.

And considering there aren’t any Whataburger locations to be had in Boston, Mass., it’s probably a good idea for Beard and Co. to make one final run — not through the drive-thru, of course — before they begin their journey to New England.
By the looks of it, it appears the team has already enjoyed some delicious food from the hamburger joint once since the victory over Florida in Dallas, Texas — or at least provided some for media members to enjoy.

Texas Tech will get the winner of Butler and Purdue later in the week at TD Garden. The Red Raiders are one of two Big 12 teams to punch their ticket to the Sweet Sixteen thus far, joining Kansas. West Virginia and Kansas State will have opportunities to join the party when they play on Sunday night.
