Wake Forest led by 8 at halftime, but couldn’t continue its strong first 30 minutes in the second half and lost to Georgia Tech, 38-24, on Saturday night.
Senior quarterback John Wolford played well going 17 of 30 for 252 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception, and sophomore running back Cade Carney averaged more than 4.8 yards per rush, but the Wake Forest defense came up short against the Georgia Tech option offense, especially in the second half.
The Yellow Jackets recorded 495 total yards, including 427 rushing yards, and controlled the clock more nearly 36 minutes. Wearing down Wake Forest in the second half, Georgia Tech scored 25 points after the break.
