What Vanderbilt fans need to know about the early signing period

The Vanderbilt Commodores can add a number of players from their recruiting class of 2018 to their roster when the early signing period begins on Wednesday, Dec. 20.

After a disappointing season against a tough schedule, Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason will look to sign and bring in fresh talent to Nashville in order to push the Commodores up the ladder in the SEC East.

According to 247Sports, with 16 commits in the class of 2018, Vanderbilt’s incoming class currently ranks 10th in the SEC and 32nd in the country.

Here’s everything you need to know about Vanderbilt recruiting as the early signing period arrives:

What is the early signing period?

The early signing period is a three-day stretch of time during which recruits in the class of 2018 can sign their National Letters of Intent to the school of their choice. The early signing period makes its debut this year, whereas in all previous years, high school prospects had to wait until National Signing Day in early February to sign their letters of intent. Now prospects who are committed to a school can sign, allowing their recruitments to end while also allowing college coaches to focus on remaining uncommitted target prospects.

When is the early signing period?

The early signing period takes place from Wednesday, Dec. 20 through Friday, Dec. 22, 2017.
