What USC coach Clay Helton said after the Trojans’ blowout loss to Notre Dame

USC hit the road for Notre Dame with its eyes set on a validating road win over a rival. They never came close to achieving that.

The Trojans had a disastrous night from their very first play, when Sam Darnold fumbled USC’s first offensive snap. Three plays later, Notre Dame was in the end zone. Shortly thereafter, the Irish scored again, and they were off and running.

Notre Dame took a 28-point lead into halftime on the arm and legs of quarterback Brandon Wimbush (4 total touchdowns), and running back Josh Adams, who scored 3 touchdowns of his own on the ground.

Darnold finished with a line of 20-of-29 passing for 229 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception but again struggled with mistakes and turnovers.

USC coach Clay Helton is expected at the podium soon to talk about the loss. Stay here for updates on what he had to say.
