Penn State routed Michigan, 42-13, Saturday night in the White Out game. The No. 2 Nittany Lions piled up more than 500 offensive yards as QB Trace McSorley and RB Saquon Barkley dominated what was the nation’s No. 1 defense.
Penn State coach James Franklin had plenty of praise for the fans, who set a Beaver Stadium record for attendance. He also complimented the entire team and the defense.
What Penn State’s James Franklin said after beating Michigan
On beating Michigan:
“This was a win for the university tonight.”
On the White Out:
“I’ve been doing this a long time, and the environment was unreal.”
Franklin looks at phone, sees time (11:23 a.m.):
“We’ve got 37 minutes to enjoy the heck out of this win. I’m not taking about the next opponent.”
On the complete effort on offense, defense and special teams:
“We’re playing really good in all three phases and that doesn’t happen very often.”
“We have a really mature team. They’ve really bought into our philosophy and our style of doing things for the past year and a half.”
On his defense:
“All week long everybody was talking about their defense. We have a pretty good defense, too.”
On long passes:
“When you’re able to complete long balls, shots down the field against a team that’s trying to sack the quarterback and play man coverage, you’re going to be tough to deal with.”
