What Pat Narduzzi said after Pittsburgh’s win over Duke

Duke’s defense played a decent game against Pittsburgh except for containing running back Darrin Hall, who ran for a career-high 254 yards and 3 touchdowns in the 24-17 upset win on Saturday. Hall’s biggest play was his 92-yard third quarter touchdown run that set a new school-record for the longest scrimmage run in the program’s history. Hall also ran for a 79-yard score in the first quarter as well. The victory improved the Panthers record to 3-5 (1-3 in the ACC) on the year.

Here is what Pittsburgh coach Pat Narduzzi said afterwards:

On the win over Duke: “We make it hard each week. The third quarter has been our nemesis all season, but we finished the game out strong in the fourth quarter. The atmosphere in that locker room is nice right now.”

The play of the defense: “Our defense made great plays by forcing turnovers in key moments of the game. Our secondary played okay, but that’s attributed to the injuries. It’s just fundamentals because we’re counting on young guys right now.”

On running back Darrin Hall’s performance: “Darrin Hall was amazing today. If he isn’t ACC Player of the Week, then I don’t know what’s going on. We give him credit for making plays, but our O-line was great at opening holes for him. We made a few adjustments to the blocking scheme in practice this week. Plus, we challenged our offensive line all week and they came through. ”
