The bad season for North Carolina coach Larry Fedora just got worse. The Tar Heels fell in embarrassing fashion Saturday, losing to Virginia Tech, 59-7.
It was the most lopsided result in the history of the Tar Heels-Hokies football rivalry, which dates back to 1895. Most would also probably consider it the low point of the Fedora era at North Carolina.
Making matter worse, redshirt freshman quarterback Chazz Surratt left with an apparent leg injury. His status moving forward remains unclear.
Here’s what Fedora said after the embarrassing defeat:
On the rough start: “From the very beginning, we couldn’t get anything going. The defense hung in there for a while but eventually got overran.”
On the poor blocking in front of the quarterback: “We had a really tough time up front.”
