Clearly, Louisville was on the brink of disaster after losing in back-to-back weeks and heading to Tallahassee where the Cardinals haven’t won since 1952.
However, the defense recovered the football on their own 24-yard line after Florida State quarterback James Blackman fumbled it away. The offense drove downfield on a 8 play, 59-yards drive that culminated with Louisville kicker Blanton Creque making a 34-yard field goal with five seconds remaining to the Cardinals a well-deserved 31-28 win on Saturday.
The victory improved Louisville’s record to 5-3 (2-3 in the ACC) on the year. Here’s what Louisville coach Bobby Petrino said after the win:
On the win over Florida State: “We needed this win for our fans, for the University of Louisville and the city of Louisville. I love everyone in that locker room.”
