What Jeff Brohm said after Purdue’s 14-12 loss to Rutgers

Jeff Brohm faced his most disappointing loss in Year 1 at Purdue on Saturday. The Boilermakers struggled to finish drives offensively in a 14-12 loss at Rutgers. Purdue out-gained the Scarlet Knights 474-217, but scored just one touchdown which came with 25 seconds left.

Purdue’s 2-point conversion afterward came up short, and the team dropped to 1-3 in Big Ten play and 3-4 overall.

Here are some of the highlights from Brohm’s postgame press conference with reporters following Purdue’s second straight loss.

Brohm acknowledged that the loss certainly was a move in the wrong direction.

The late touchdown was Purdue’s first trip to the end zone since a win over Minnesota two weeks ago. Purdue did not score a touchdown in last week’s 17-9 loss to Wisconsin.

And while Rutgers scored twice on big plays — including a 74-yard rush in the game’s opening minutes — Purdue could not get many explosive plays down the field against the Scarlet Knights.
