Absolutely, Tennessee can rebound and save the Class of 2018. The early signing period beginning on Dec. 20 does put the Vols in a tough place, though.

There are 10 commits in the class, down from 23 when the calendar flipped to September. Back then it was a top-5 class in the country and best in the SEC.

Now it’s one of the worst classes in the SEC.

How can coach Jeremy Pruitt turn things around?

Tennessee likely has to come away from this weekend with a couple of commits. The Vols have a number of top prospects taking visits to Knoxville.

Pruitt has targeted some of the best prospects in the country, such as  Olaijah Griffin, whowill be on campus this weekend. Griffin is a UCLA commit who might be hard to flip. His talent makes him worth the chance, though.

Griffin rates as a 4-star prospect and the No. 5 cornerback in the class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Wide receiver Jacob Copeland will be on campus, too. He is a 4-star and 1 of the 10 best wide receivers in the country. There is enough ability to be a game changer for the Vols next season.

Griffin and Copeland didn’t have interest in Tennessee before Pruitt showed. Now the Vols have a chance with both.  I do think Copeland is more likely at this point than Griffin.

Reeling in commitments like this will help turn the class around. This weekend will tell a lot about how the class will finish.

Pruitt has targeted great prospects who could elevate the class. It might be too late to turn them into Vols, though.

This coaching staff has the confidence to pull it off.
