What Buzz Williams said after Virginia Tech’s loss vs. Alabama in the NCAA Tournament

Ninth-seeded Alabama (20-15) defeated eighth-seeded Virginia Tech (21-12) 86-83 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Collin Sexton led Alabama with 25 points and six assists. Reserve John Petty scored 20 points for the Crimson Tide.

Justin Robinson had team-highs in points (19), assists (7) and steals (4) for the Hokies. Justin Bibbs scored 17 points and Nickeil Alexander-Walker added 15 points.

Virginia Tech converted 50 percent from the 3-point line (9-of-18) however Alabama shot 60 percent overall.

Virginia Tech led 43-41 at halftime.

This is the second consecutive season Virginia Tech was outed in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Last season, ninth-seeded Virginia Tech lost to eighth-seed Wisconsin 84-74.
