Baker Mayfield became the sixth Oklahoma Sooner to win the Heisman Trophy on Saturday.

The senior quarterback beat out 2016 Heisman winner Lamar Jackson from Louisville and the Power 5’s leading rusher, Bryce Love from Stanford.

Here’s what Mayfield had to say after winning the award.

Baker Mayfield on winning the award

“This is unbelievable for me. Being up here among these greats, it’s something that words can’t even describe. It’s them.”

“God has put me in a position to be so blessed. And all the time, I wonder why. But it’s such an honor to be up here. I really appreciate it. It’s unbelievable.”

Baker Mayfield on the other Heisman finalists

“First, I’d like to say congratulations to Bryce. Good season, man. I mean, heck of a year. You played well. And then getting to know your family as well. Heck of a family. No wonder you turned out great, man. So congratulations. Keep balling.”

“And then Lamar, good to see you again man. You know I love your family. You guys are special people. So I enjoyed being around you guys.”

Baker Mayfield’s closing remarks
