In Jordan McCabe, West Virginia will soon be adding one of the top point guard prospects in the nation.
By the time the 4-star Kaukuana (Wi.) product arrives he Morgantown, W. Va., he’ll do so as Mr. Basketball in Wisconsin, as McCabe was honored by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association with the prestigious award this weekend, per a report from Chris Anderson of 247Sports.
To do so, McCabe outlasted the likes of 4-star Kentucky shooting guard signee Tyler Herro, 4-star Marquette power forward signee Joey Hauser, and 3-star Iowa State point guard signee Tyrese Haliburton, among others.
The headliner of Bob Huggins’ 2018 class, McCabe is averaging 26 points, eight assists, 6 rebounds and 2 steals per game this season. As a result, McCabe has led Kaukuana to a 25-3 record thus far.
Following the 2018 NCAA Tournament, West Virginia is set to lose high-level guard talents in Jevon Carter and Daxter Miles Jr., but with a prospect as prized as McCabe bound for Morgantown, there’s reason to believe the future for Huggins and his basketball program remains bright, per usual.
McCabe is ranks as the nation’s No. 104 player, No. 19 point guard and the No. 3 player in Wisconsin, per the 247Sports Composite. He headlines a four-man West Virginia class that also includes 4-star power forward Derek Culver, 3-star shooting guard Trey Doomes, and JUCO power forward Andrew Gordon.
